Phillips Middle School Principal Quarry Williams (pictured right) recently served as a moderator for a session titled "Mental Health in Education" at the Hunt Institute State Policy Fellows Conference. During this session, he addressed the mental health challenges faced by students and emphasized the crucial role school leaders play in enhancing the support for students' mental health and well-being. The Hunt Institute State Policy Fellows is a bipartisan group of local leaders, including county commissioners, school board members, mayors, and other community leaders who have shown the potential to be effective, and equity-minded education policymakers.

Today, SouthWest Edgecombe High School Senior Aerospace Science and JROTC Instructor Sgt. Willie Lester had the honor of speaking at their meeting about the school's JROTC program. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share the wonderful things our students are achieving.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Quarry Williams as the new Principal of Phillips Middle School. Mr. Williams brings over 12 years of dedicated educational experience and is a visionary leader with a genuine passion for fostering high student achievement.
Most recently, Mr. Williams served as the Coordinator of Connections Learning Academy, ECPS’s Alternative Learning Program. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Principal at Nashville Elementary School, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to student success.
Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina Wesleyan, a Master of Education in School Counseling from Salem College, and a License in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
We are confident that Mr. Williams's innovative approach and unwavering commitment will greatly benefit the Phillips community.
"I am excited about this opportunity, and I am looking forward to building positive connections with all the families, staff, and community partners at Phillips Middle School. With a focus on the student's well-being and growth, my goal is to help every student reach their best and fullest potential," said Williams.

Open House is tonight, Tuesday, July 9, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Read to Achieve Sites are Coker-Wimberly Elementary School, Carver Elementary School., and Stocks Elementary School.
RTA camp will start Wednesday, July 10 and continue through July 30.
Coker-Wimberly Elementary School will also include students from Baskerville Elementary School, D.S. Johnson Elementary School and Fairview Elementary School.
Stocks Elementary School will also include Martin Millennium Academy and Princeville Elementary School students.
GW Carver Elementary will include G.W. Bulluck Elementary School students.
